Respected Researcher and Innovator
Dr. Eric Bernstein is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading authorities in dermatology and laser surgery.
His unusual educational background (he has an advanced degree in engineering as well as in medicine) coupled with his extraordinary experience as a laser researcher and inventor as well as a board- certified dermatologist has given him a unique understanding of state-of-the-art treatments for skin-related problems.
Dr. Bernstein received his undergraduate degree from Duke University (wherehe graduated Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude) and his MD from the Yale University School of Medicine. He also has a Master of Science in Engineering (MSE) degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Following fellowships with the National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md., and
Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, Pa., Dr. Bernstein joined Jefferson Medical College, also in Philadelphia, where he directed a photobiology laboratory and served as the first director of the college’s Laser Surgery Center.
Dr. Bernstein’s research on a molecular model of skin photoaging led to the development of his own company, DakDak LLC, which performs in vitro phototoxicology testing for large pharmaceutical companies and pursues discovery of novel anti-aging and pharmaceutical compounds. He has developed and researched many of today’s most advanced clinical laser applications and holds
numerous U.S. and international patents. He has also authored more than 50 peer-reviewed medical journal articles, and has given more than 250 presentations at scientific meetings.
Dr. Bernstein currently serves as medical director of the Centers for Cosmetic Laser Surgery in the Philadelphia suburb of Ardmore, where he offers a wide range of treatments for an equally wide range of skin diseases and conditions. He is also a clinical associate professor of dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania.
